For this example I queried Microsoft’s company overview through Muxo’s Alpha Vantage market-data tool, then retrieved its financial metrics from Finnhub. Both were read-only calls. The point is to show a repeatable research workflow and how to interpret the returned fields, not to assess whether the stock is attractive.

Start with a structured overview

The Alpha Vantage overview call returned a compact company snapshot. The dataset identified Microsoft (MSFT) on Nasdaq, with a reported latest quarter ending June 30, 2026. Selected fields from the response:

FieldReturned valueHow to read it
Revenue TTM$331.84BTrailing twelve-month revenue, as supplied by the provider
Operating margin TTM45.1%Operating income as a share of revenue, trailing twelve months
Profit margin40.3%Provider’s reported profit margin field
Quarterly revenue growth YoY17.7%Year-over-year growth for the latest reported quarter
52-week range$348.54–$551.15Historical range in the provider response; not a forecast

The 52-week range is context, not a valuation signal on its own. Margins and growth are also backward-looking reported metrics. They do not establish what future results will be.

Use a second provider as a cross-check

The Finnhub company-metrics call returned a broader set of metrics and historical series. For the period ending June 30, 2026, the response included annual gross margin of 67.94% and annual free-cash-flow margin of 20.19%; its quarterly series listed gross margin at 67.2% and free-cash-flow margin at 21.82% for that same period.

Read the label before comparing. “Operating margin,” “gross margin,” and “free-cash-flow margin” describe different parts of a business. Similar-looking percentages are not interchangeable.

A compact Muxo workflow

The two calls used the finance-focused tool slugs instant.alpha_vantage.company_overview and instant.finnhub.get_company_financial_metrics, each with { symbol: "MSFT" }. Muxo ran these reads under workspace policy and recorded a signed receipt for each. The tools cost one credit each in this run.

  • Choose a narrow question, such as “What did the latest provider snapshot report for revenue and margins?”
  • Request the relevant source fields, keeping the provider and symbol visible in your notes.
  • Record the retrieval date and reporting period beside every figure.
  • Cross-check definitions and periods before drawing a comparison.

What this example does not say

This snapshot is not real-time pricing, a forecast, or a recommendation. Data vendors can revise or normalize their histories differently. Before publishing research, verify the figures against current provider documentation and company filings, and confirm any licensing requirements for redistribution.
